Volta ao Algarve road cycling holiday – Cycle alongside the pros
Are you ready to kick off 2021 with a bang? Why not join our Volta ao Algarve road cycling holiday week in May (moved from the original week in February due to Covid 19)! This will be an incredible week of road cycling in the Algarve, following the famous UCI World Tour Volta ao Algarve at the same time. You will get a chance to see the very best world tour teams in action, as well as see the pros warm up and cool down before and after certain stages (if you are lucky you might get some autographs!).
As well as this, the price of the holiday includes an entry to the Volta ao Algarve Granfondo, a fantastically well organised and supported event that takes place on the final weekend of the Volta ao Algarve, usually following the same route as one of the stages. This is your chance to really test your own legs, whilst racing on the same roads as the pros!
Difficulty Level
This holiday is suitable for all levels of road cyclist. The group will be divided into different ability groups, each guided at your pace! The Volta ao Algarve Granfondo is optional, and also has two different levels ‘Granfondo” (usually over 110km) and “Mediofondo” (usually around 70km).
Accommodation
You will be staying in the beautiful town of Loulé, Algarve. It is located in the perfect place for cycling, away from the busier coastline (but only an easy 10km away), and right in the heart of the best cycling areas of the central Algarve.
Loulé itself is a charming, traditional Portuguese town. It’s castle, market and small cobbled streets are all popular with tourists and the town has a particular buzz on a Saturday morning when the outdoor fruit and vegetable market is held.
Cuisine
We love to support the local restaurant owners, so you will eat in different hand picked local restaurants each night, most within walking distance of the hotel. By the end of the week you will have had a taste of the many traditional dishes of Portugal and in particular the Algarve.
All meals plus house wine, beer or soft drinks are all included in the price of your holiday.

Loulé Hotel Jardim
Guests will stay in this beautiful town centre hotel within walking distance of all market, restaurants and cafes. The hotel has a gym, bar and lounge as well as a rooftop pool with a view of the historic part of the town. The hotel is ideally situated in the Algarve – away from the busiest coastal roads, with the best riding right on the doorstep.

With single occupancy you are guaranteed a private room and bathroom in all accommodation that we stay in.

What is your cancellation policy?
You can book with confidence with our generous cancellation policy stated in our Terms and Conditions. We strongly recommend that you travel with adequate travel insurance to cover the cost of flight cancellation and holiday cancellation.

Can I hire a bike?
Of course. Just get in touch to let us know exactly what you would like and we will give you a quotation.
Will I be too slow?
Definitely not! We pride ourselves on providing holidays for all abilities, and we have guides for different fitness levels. Often groups will be divided into three different groups so suit everyone!
Having said that, there are two trips that do require a reasonable level of fitness – the Bikepacking Adventure and the N2 Challenge. Both of these trips have a minimum number of kilometres to complete each day.
