Women’s Only Gravel Cycling Adventure with a focus on Self-Care
We have designed this beautiful gravel bike packing tour across the Algarve with a focus on self-care and mindfulness.
Difficulty Level
This tour is for all levels of cyclist. We love helping novice riders learn new skills and gain confidence, and this cycling adventure is the perfect place to do it. All days will have two guides for two different ability levels so everyone is riding at their own pace.
Heritage and Culture
This week is not just about the bike… as you cycle, you will also experience the culture and heritage of this amazing country – the local cuisine, wine and liquor making, the agriculture, historic monuments and the ancient creative traditions. You will leave with a taste of real Portugal – and we know you will want to come back.
Accommodation
We will handpick small, boutique hotels that are aligned with our goals of sustainable tourism and supporting the local economy.
Cuisine
We love to support the local restaurant owners, so you will eat in different hand picked local restaurants each night, most within walking distance of the hotel. By the end of the week you will have had a taste of the many traditional dishes of Portugal and in particular the Algarve. Your evening meals are included in the cost of your holiday, as well as house wine or a beer too!

All our hotels are bike-friendly with pools and with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy or meditation and yoga sessions. We have been careful to choose all of our hotels based on the fact they are Portuguese owned and run and have a focus on sustainability.

Women’s Gravel Bike Packing Tour across Algarve
Please note this is only an indication as external factors such as group ability might impact which exact routes are followed.
Arrival into Faro Airport, transfer to Tavira
We will arrange for you to be taken (with any bikes and luggage you have of course!) from Faro Airport to the stunning Quinta do Marco in the hills above Tavira.
Here you will be met by our friendly team and checked into the hotel. Depending on your flight arrival time there might be time for an afternoon spin before dinner.
We will help you with bike set up and make sure you are ready to rock and roll for the week ahead! We will have a comprehensive tool kit, floor pump and everything you might require.
Tavira – Cortelha
40-50km 1000m
On our first day we will head straight up into the hills and into the real Algarve.
We will finish the day at one of my favourite rural restaurants which has a traditional accommodation attached to it, run by a fantastic Portuguese family who we absolutely love!
Ride to Benafim
50-80km 900-1400m
Today we will ride into the very heart of the Algarve, through villages that seem to have been stood still in time.
Quinta do Freixo, where we will end the day, is a truly special family-run hotel on its own 500ha plot. They have a pledge to serve as much food as possible through their restaurant that they have grown or raised themselves on their organic farm. With an idyllic swimming pool and yoga deck, we will spend 2 nights here to re-charge before continuing on.
Silves, the ancient capital of the Algarve
50-80km 900-1500m
This day we will cycle across to Silves, the ancient capital of the Algarve. It’s a stunning town, steeped in history. Our accommodation is the Silves History Gueshouse, a beautifully remodelled boutique hotel under the town walls. It’s the perfect place to explore the streets from in the evening.
Monchique, the highest point of the Algarve
60-80km 800-1500m
Today we will climb up to the very highest point of the Algarve – Monchique. It’s a totally different side of the Algarve with forests and small villages on the hillsides.
We will stay in Vila Foia, a wonderful hilltop boutique hotel with a jacuzzi, pool and yoga deck with an unparalleled view to the coast.
Aljezur – the West Coast!
40-70km 800-1500m
This last ride will blow you away with the beautiful descent off the mountain and down to the stunning west coast. We will enjoy a celebratory stop at Arrifana, overlooking the Atlantic, before making our way to our final and breathtaking hotel.
Tavira Coastline Ride
40-60km 800-1000m
Today we will enjoy an easier flatter day, around the coastal roads near Tavira and Santa Luzia. This is the best region of the Algarve to ride on the road near the coast, as the roads are still not too busy, they are well surfaced and the villages on the coastline here are picturesque and unspoilt.

We will arrange a transfer to take you and your luggage to Faro Airport.

FAQ’s
What is your cancellation policy?
We strongly recommend that you travel with adequate travel insurance to cover the cost of flight cancellation and holiday cancellation.
How technical is the gravel cycling in Alte?
The gravel cycling here ranges from beginner to medium level in terms of technical difficulty. We will adapt the riding to suit our guests, but for the majority you can imagine easy 4×4 tracks and small roads. There might be the odd bit of single track for a bit of fun… 😉

Don’t worry. We pride ourselves on providing holidays for all abilities, and we have guides for different fitness levels. Often groups will be divided into three different groups so suit everyone!
